Firewall and Connection to a Samsumg Smart TV

Hello,
Well enabling "Internet Connection Sharing Mode" worked until today. But then I update the AVG application  to the latest version and its does not work anymore. I cannot connect to my SmartTV. The only thing that works is turning off the firewall completely, which is not something I am comfortable with.

Hello Robert,

In light of the current circumstances concerning Covid-19 outbreak, there was a delay. Hope you're well.
We request you to refer this article and follow the steps as mentioned under "Define Network profiles"  and under "More Enhanced Firewall settings", get into "system rules".
Once you are in system rules window, enable "windows & file printer sharing" and "allow remote connection to this computer".
Once these changes are made, check the connection status with your Smart TV.
Thank you.

Hello,
I am trying to wireless connect my laptop to my Samsung TV. So far the only way I can do that is  if I turn off AVG Internet Protection Firewall. However I am reluctant to turn the firewall off completely. There must be a way to configure the firewall so that I can allow access to the TV without turning of the firewall..but I have no idea how. Any suggestions?

Thank you for clarifying, Robert. However, as you've stated that the application has been updtaed, we'd suggest you to check & ensure that the network profile is set to private, system rules are configured accordingly.
If they're already configured as suggested earlier, you can proceed to add an application rule for the program that connects your TV & laptop. To do so, follow the steps in this article & let us know if it helps.

And BTW, the repair did not work either.

Appreciate your efforts in working towards fixing the issue, Robert.
We can also try enabling the 'Internet Connection sharing mode' in firewall settings. To find this option : Open AVG Internet Security - Menu - Settings - Full protection - Enahanced firewall - Check 'Internet connection sharing mode' & let us know if it helps.

Thanks.
I enabled  the two rules you mentioned. But I still have the same problem. The telivision responds that it is connecting and then returns a message that the connection was not successful.

We are sorry for the confusion.

What is the program that connects my laptop and TV.? How to I identify it? I am trying to connect wirelessly so I assume its a Windows 10 application?
