The most curious thing is that you have several prompts for a program, answer to all of them and, at the end, if you go through the recorded AVG firewall rules, for that software you'll find just 2 rules, one for data IN and one for data OUT, with the PORT fields empty
So, why asking me for 12 times what I want to do if it'll record just to simple rules with very few data?
Hello Andrea,

Hello,
I think to understood where is the bug:
- If I choose ALLOW or DENY leaving the Access Parameter to the default setting (Internet OUTgoing), REMEMBER MY CHOICE activated, AVG store the rule ONLY for the involved PORT, then if the app try to connect using another port AVG will prompt you again, and this should be alright
- If I choose ALLOW or DENY, changing the Access Parameter to ALLOW ALL or DENY ALL, REMEMBER MY CHOICE activated, for me means that app must be FULLY granted or blocked (depending of your previous choice), for ANY port, not just the one originally involved! If I set fully permission to an app that means it NOT must be just for ONE port

Hello Jovana,
don't worry, right now I fully uninstalled AVG, wasting my last three months of the year subscription, replacing it with the little bit more reliable Avast
Take your time, other big software houses are worst than AVG firewall (just tested McAfee Total Protection: AVG firewall is the best fairy tale in the world!)

Hello, I'm using the Internet Protection version (now is the last one just updated) and the firewall rule is set to ASK
Now, what I'm not able to explain to myself is why in the popup window, asking authorization to communicate for a certain exe file, if:
- I choose ALL CONNECTIONS and ALLOW, leaving the check in the REMEMBER MY CHOICE box, the window pops up again asking me the same thing for the same file
- I choose ALL CONNECTIONS and OK, leaving the check in the REMEMBER MY CHOICE box, the window pops up again asking me the same thing for the same file
- I choose BLOCK ALL CONNECTIONS and DENY, leaving the check in the REMEMBER MY CHOICE box, the window pops up again asking me the same thing for the same file
- I choose BLOCK ALL CONNECTIONS and OK, leaving the check in the REMEMBER MY CHOICE box, the window pops up again asking me the same thing for the same file
I'm using AVG Internet Security since ten months and, in any version upgraded since the first one installed, this behaviour never changed, always the same borring, irritating and frustrating behaviour
How is possible that REMEMBER MY CHOICE has never been activated????
In ten months is possible that no one has claim this BUG?????
Andrea, we're sorry to hear that you feel this way.
We regret the inconvenience this may have caused.
The reason we have suggested remote support is to investigate and resolve this matter without any further delay and guide to resolve on your other devices.
Since you're not comfortable with the remote session, we will look into it closely and assist you through here.
For better clarity, please share the screenshot of the concerned AVG firewall notification.
If needed, please find a quick guide on how to take a screenshot here.
Meanwhile, I'd recommend you to follow the below steps to configure your application rules to smart mode and check the status.
- Open AVG AntiVirus and click the Web & Email tile on the main application screen.
- Click Settings (the gear icon) in the top-right corner of the screen.
- Click Basic protection ▸ Enhanced Firewall in the left panel.
- Select 'Smart mode' in 'How should Firewall treat new app rule' and check the status.
Thanks for your time
First, I must take a photo for all windows coming up for all applications involved??
I'm asking because it's a huge work, AVG ask at least 2 times (when you're lucky) for ALL applications not yet added to the rules
Right now those windows are few, because I already answered to the most of them (in case of CITRIX app, AVG ask me 2 times per day, every day, every week, every month…) because, after the software update, seems that all firewall rules are magically gone…
If you want to start from the beginning, I can cancel all firewall app rules stored just to take a screenshot for all prompt coming up, but first you must tell me how much free space you have on your server…
Second, I will never set the firewall to SMART: in this way it'll decide by itself who allow to let to communicate based on your (its) vendor thrusted list; I decide who must communicate or not, my vendors thrusted list is shorter than your one, a lot…
I understand that, if I update/upgrade a program, its digital signature and version change and the firewall detect it as a new app, and I fully understand a new AVG firewall pop up window
But on my PC only Windows update itself, I manage all the other programs update so, I know if a firewall prompt is legitimate or not, and this is NOT

Just to give you the best example about this issue, set your firewall to ASK and install STEAM program, this is a lot of more explicative than any screenshot
