Googleapis.com virus

Thank you. I went to the "article" suggested by you to go to

Google Chrome
Reset Chrome settings to default

Nothing loads.

I got the message "This site cannot be loaded"

After 5 minutes I tried again, and then it loaded.
What do you think is wrong?

I'm trying "reset to default" instruction now,

Thank you for the expanation and detailed istructions. The delay in accessing websites (even google search) and frequent messages of "cannot download this site") are occuring too often.

I was about to change the DNS server addresses as suggested by AVG, but before I do that, Can you please tell me what possible changes, difffculties, issues I can get into if I do this change. I do not want to solve one problem and create another.

I would appecatie your response. Thank you.

I do see the problem occasionally, but there is certainly an overall improvement.

I'd like to thank you & your colleagues for your help.

I still experience the same problem of waiting for fonts.googleapis.com, ajaxgoogle, etc. far to often to be able to use my computer effectively. (I did change the DNS as suggested by you).
Can you please tell me if-
1) There is a way to get/use some standard font (fonts) always, and disable having to go to fonts.googleapis, etc.?
2) Can I temporarily disable AVG to see if it makes a diffference?
Thank you.

I have gone tot he above link and I do not get the AVG window that will let me turn AVG off. What I get is the following, which does not offer any option to temporarily disable AVG.

Hi Vikram.
Are you experiencing a redirection to https://googleapis.com/ while browsing?
This could be caused due to unwanted apps or browser extensions installed on your PC.
Please verify and uninstall the unwanted app and reset your web browser to default settings.

I have the googleapis.com virus that is really slowing down my desktop. I have the AVG Internet Security (Multi-Device) package, but it doesn't seem to remove this problem. Can someone help? Thank you. (I have Windows 10 and use Chrome).

Kindly check in the Control Panel if the AVG is installed successfully.
And also share us the screenshot of the message that appear in the left bottom of the screen.
You can refer this article for the steps to capture the screenshot : https://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=AVG-Create-screenshot
You can post the screenshot here in your topic. Click on 'Answer' & then click on the 'Image' [mountain symbol] & follow the instructions.

This is getting more exciting.
You ask me to go to the AVG System Tray icon.  I don't have it.
I only have the AVG Browser icon.
What next?

Is the AVG anativirus not installed properly?

Changing your DNS will not cause any problems, Vikram
As suggested by my colleague in the previous post, change the DNS settings to Google DNS server.
You can refer this article for the steps : https://bit.ly/2PpOi1C
Reboot your PC and verify the issue.
