Alan, As you suggested. Above is a screenshot of the change to the Registry of Vista32 Home Basic to allow a user to simultaneously allow Microsoft Window Defender to work in concert with the AVG Free AntiVirus software.
The policies are the Group Policies that control various programs in Windows. All you have to do is initial Regedit and search as mentioned in the thread of this post. Remember to always make a copy of your Registry in Windows just in case you make a mistake.
After changing the boolian value to 00 (False). Just fire up your Windows Defender program.
The point of this message post is to ask AVG how to patch their program to stop the re-initiation of the value being changed to 01 (True) which activates the AntiSpyware Group Policy and prevents the user not being able to load WD.
Frankly AVG software should not prevent the user from also combining other software like spyware and malware software to assist in preventing problems.
AVG should remove this new feature in its software. This feature was NOT in previous versions of AVG FREE.
We apologize for the inconvenience caused, could you please explain more about the issue. Also please attach us the screenshot http://avgclick.me/getscreenshot of the Reset Flag that you are referring to.
Akash, First of all I apologize as the message is incorrectly stated. What I meant to state was that when I first boot up (computer Vista 32 Home Basic) it resets the Policy flags under HKLM/Software/Policies/Microsoft/Windows Defender to [DisableAntiSpyware (binary) to True (01)]. Thus prohibiting me from starting my Windows Defender. The True setting initiates the Group Policy error message results.
If I reset to False (00), I can then start my Windows Defender to work simultaneously with the AVG Free AntiVirus software.
Obviously, this is an inconvenience to me as with my previous version of AVG Free I could set the computer to boot up and initiation BOTH the AVG AntiVirus Software and the Windows Defender Spyware/malware software.
What AVG startup software patch will allow me to stop the AVG from resetting the [DisableAntiSpyware (binary) to True (01)] to True.?
How do I disengage the activation of Vista 32 Home Basic program Windows Defender WD). Every time I start AVG Free the WD policy flag is reset to 01. The problem being the WD offers additional scanning features that AVG Free doesn't.
Manual I can engage the WD but it is just another step that I would like to stop using.
I understand that AVG would like to believe that the anti-virus version is suitable for all virus, spyware, malware, etc. but it is not true.
