Have I been scammed?

Last week I tried to install Avg free edition on my windows 10 laptop. Down load failed with error 0xC0070643 showing.  Followed the link on the AVG web site to get technical assistance for the problem.  After on - line chat with technician (Santtosh) he took remote control of my computer to solve the problem which he could not do after about 30 minutes.  He then said he would pass this on to his supervisor and I would receive an e-mail within three days to sort the problem and then suddenly logged off.  One week later there is still no e-mail.  More worrying however, I immediately ran a full scan with windows defender which detected an item PWS.HTML/Nawsetphish.C which it classed as a severe threat which is used to capture user passwords.  As the AVG web site was still showing the https sign all through the on line exchange with Santtosh I assumed everything was OK.  So my question is have I been scammed by someone pretending to work for AVG.

Hello Jenny.
I understand your situation, I would have felt the same when I have faced this situation. However, I would like to let you know that the agent you had remote session is an official AVG staff and you can be sure that you are in the right hands. I request you to reach back the remote technician with the same link that you have used earlier and report the issue.
Thank you.
