Hello
Are the Virus definitions downloaded through AVGSvc.exe because TCP View is showing some data being downloaded, over 12M up to now?
Console screen still shows Virus Definitions as out of date.
Thanks for any help

Thank you for updating the status.
Let us try updating Google DNS and try updating AVG Antivirus free.
1. Press Windows and R keys simultaneously to open Run command.
2. Then type "ncpa.cpl" without the quotes and click on OK button.
3. In Network connections window, please right-click the connection you use, and select Properties.
4. Double-click the Internet Protocol (TCP/IPv4) item on the Networking tab.
5. Click Advanced and select the DNS tab. If there are any DNS server IP addresses listed there, write them down for future reference, and remove them from this window. Click OK.
6) Select "Use the following DNS server addresses" and enter below mentioned numbers:
8.8.8.8
8.8.4.4.
7) Click on Apply and Ok.
Try updating AVG antivirus free and inform the status here.
Hi, Updated to 18.6.3066 and now have a problem with "Host Unreachable" for Definitions updates. There used to be a list of AVG components for the previous versions that showed which needed internet access for updates, etc.

Forrest, we can help you with this.
Provide the screenshot of "Use the following DNS server addresses" window after entering the value.
This will help us to identify whether you are entering the numbers correctly.
You can post the screenshot here in your topic. Click on 'Answer' & then click on the 'Image' [mountain symbol] & follow the instructions.
Hello Artur,
Let's work together to fix it. Do you have AVG 18.6? Have you tried with uninstalling and reinstalling AVG products to check if it helps?
i tried step 6 but it wont let me do it just says invalid ip can i get some help please
Problem fixed.
Using third part software (Zemana Anti Malware) I remove few proxy problems (127.0.0.0 etc.). Now updates works like a charm. I'm using fresh (today download) AVG Internet Seciurity.
Have the same problem. How to solve it? Whole office is unsecured…
Also the last couple of times I've restarted the below has come up:-
I've selected Restart and then a message comes up saying a program is trying to close AVG.
This worked for me: from the Update window in AVG, scroll down to "Proxy Settings" and Click the button for "Direct Connection (no proxy)" then AVG will update!
Well that's some hours of my time and some of my bandwidth that I'll never see again. The Remover couldn't see an AGV instalation that was running but I ran it anyway The cleaner seemed to do something. I then tried to run the AVG Free Installer a couple of times but it kept telling me that some necessary files weren't available on YOUR server, some garbage about resetting values and trying again. This all started because your Host was Unreachable, has your server been the problem all along??? You used to have an offline version of AVG Free Installer, is there still one available?
I have same problem with AVG Free as well. been like this since last major update.
Artur, glad to know that your issue has been resolved.
For AVG update issue, we have to try entering Google DNS and then perform the update AVG which will fix the problem.
If you would like to know on how to perform it, refer below mentioned steps:
1. Press Windows and R keys simultaneously to open Run command.
2. In Run window, type "ncpa.cpl" without the quotes and click on OK button.
If you have third party antivirus installed along with AVG Internet Security, do remove it as both will conflict.
Thanks.
