Hello David,
Please note that these kind of tool bars and search engines get into the computer along with some other software or if we visit any untrustworthy websites accidentally. I would request you to uninstall unknown add ons from your web browsers. Please right click on the desktop shortcuts of your web browsers, click on Properties, check the 'Target' field. It should be “C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe” for IE and “C:\Program Files (x86)\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe” for Chrome. Please check and remove if any other text is added to this path. Thank you.
This hostile webpage (http://13x27490-virus.info/en/?id=MDgwMCAwODYgOTk5Ng) tells me that I have a virus problem, which I haven't and to ring a number/click a link - which of course I have not done. The AVG Helpline assistant tells me to ignore it but it is a nuisance and I cannot close it. If it becomes the active tab, eg because I have closed another tab and it is the next one, it stops me doing anything else in the browser and I can only close the browser by using Task Manager and using End Task. If I open that browser again it is immediately there. How can I get rid of this page or make AVG antivirus stop it opening?
