You mean those idiots at AVG still haven't resolved this issue? Alan, a Guru like yourself should know by now that adding MyPC Backup to exceptions won't work. See this question from two weeks ago, where I have now posted a much better solution:

Hi Jennifer,
Please try add whole folder to exeptions.
Thanks
sorry, I still get the same error message
I have installed My PC Backup to backup my computer daily, but it has stopped working and according to their support team, AVG is preventing it from functioning properly. How do I add individual MyPC backup .exe files within the MyPC Backup folder to the exceptions list? I have been using MyPC backup for 2 years without any issue.
sorry, I still get the same error message
Hi Alan,
Am I doing something wrong, but I get this error when I try to add the file to exception? It also happens when I browse for the file and select within MyPCbackup folder.
Please advise?
Thanks and Kind Regards,
Jenny
Bruce Sawyer quote "You mean those idiots at AVG still haven't resolved this issue?"…
Bruce, If you look again you'll see that as yet neither user Catherine Fitzpatrick or Dino Petrin have in fact provided AVG with the info that was requested. By the way if I were you, in future, I'd be very careful about what you're insinuating about AVG personnel.

Hi Bruce,
In default settings Resident Shield ask before removing/healing.
We don't add this application to white-list because it is confirmed PUP.
Thanks
Jennifer, Another user Dino Petrin is also having a MyPC Backup issue (https://support.avg.com/answers?id=906b0000000D4CiAAK).

Not if Resident Shield is using the default setting to heal/remove infections without asking there isn't. Why doesn't AVG just whitelist the program?

You didn't choose Folder in exception type.
If PUP(Spyware) is detected there is also Allow button in detection dialog which should create exception to detect file automatically.
Thanks
