I want to close AVG and reopen it because that green "you are protected" sign has got stuck on the top left of my screen. But I can find no exit in the program!? I'm not even allowed (on my own computer as administrator) to close the thing in task manager!
I don't wish to restart, there are things running I need to keep running. Restarting has solved it before (temporarily), but I'd prefer a way to just restart AVG, or even better stop that notice appearing. It normally appears when I hover over the AVG system tray icon, but sometimes it manages to get right up in the top left corner of the screen and doesn't go away.
Forgot to say it's the free AVG. For some reason there's no edit function in this forum.
Thank you for providing us the info, Peter.
Please clarify whether the taskbar on your computer is in top of your desktop.
If so, please change the position to bottom or side & then revert to top to check if it helps.
Additionally, you can try repairing AVG program. However, this might require a restart to allow changes to take effect.
Taskbar is at the bottom. Repair won't work just now because I managed to kill half the AVG processes with task manager. I can't reboot as a disk scan of a USB drive is running which takes ages. I'll try repair if it happens again, but I think there's a bug that allows that notice to get jammed on the screen.
Hi Peter,
We're glad to look into this & help you.
Please share us the screenshot of the sign that is stuck for better clarity & let us know whether you use the AVG Free Antivirus.
Meanwhile, please try restarting the computer once, if you've not restarted it earlier.
Hi Peter,
Thank you for your response.
Please try repairing the AVG AntiVirus program if the popup reappears and let us know the status of the issue.
Keep us posted.
