How do I delete old AVG .dat files?

How do I delete old AVG .dat files?  They are clogging up my C-drive - about half the total drive capacity!

Also - to clarify, the same space is taken up on the C-drive by all the AVG files - no change.  It's something in the neighborhood of 300 to 400 GB!  Also, when I renewed our subscription in Sept of 2015, it never offered me the option of upgrading the program to 2015 or 2016.  That may be a problem for others.

Hi, I appreciate your fast response.  I have not installed AVG Web Tuneup.  The two directories are: "C:\All Users\AVG2014\chjw" and "C:\Program Data\AVG2014\chjw".  Each directory is comprised of hundreds of .dat files totaling in the neighborhood of 125 GB total in each directory.

Thanks! I'll do it now.

New 2016 software installed.  No change to hard drive.  I had to manually search out and remove all references to AVG2014 and the .dat files in those folders.  At this point, all seems to be back to normal.

Thanks very much for your help!  I'd still recommend that the subscription renewal should include an automatic upgrade to the latest software interface and that the installation of the new software handles eliminating older files automatically or maybe with a login and password to give permission.  It should definitely be a bit easier.

Thanks very much!

Well, I've used the AVG Remover program 7 times with a cimputer restart after each use.  Nothing has chnaged except that the Windows programs page thinks it has been unistalled.  Each time I run the AVG Remover, it identifies the AVG Internet Security and has me choose to uninstall it.  It's starting to feel like Groundhog day around here (again).  Any thoughts?

Hello Doug,

Thank you for attaching the screenshot. This issue should have occured since you have installed the older 2014 version. We request you to completely remove 2014 using our AVG remover tool and install latest 2016 version.
1) To download the AVG remover tool please click on this link:

2) Run the downloaded tool and follow the instructions displayed on your screen.
3) Your computer will be restarted automatically. After the restart, AVG Remover will finish the uninstallation.
NOTE: Once the AVG Remover Tool has done with its process. Please go to the C drive and look for a folder named as "AVG Remover" and I request you to delete it manually.

Hello Doug,

Have you installed our browser add-on called AVG web tuneup?
Could you please provide the path of the C drive that has these files?

Doug, after running the remover tool did you search for the folder named as "AVG REMOVER" on you C driver and deleted it ? We have mentioned to do this in our previous reply.
