I tested my last question on another USB drive I have. I added the Exclusion F:*\ then right-clicked F: and selected "Scan with AVG"; AVG started the scan process on F:.
I then removed the F:*\ exclusion and added F:\ Apply OK. Right-click "Scan with AVG" and BINGO! Message from SCAN - Shell Extension Scan finished (imediately) and view notification reports: Excluded folder. Not scanned. F:<br>
So to answer my original question: To disable AVG from scanning an entire drive, the correct way to enter into the Exceptions is: Add exception; in Exception Type select Folder; in the Choose… box enter: D:\ ; Apply; OK This will tell AVG to no longer scan the D:\ drive.

I have Carrbonite Mirror backup going to my D: drive and do not want AVG to scan that particular removable drive. However I do want other removable drives scanned.
In Exceptions, I placed the string D:*\ for folders to exclude. I'm wondering if that is the correct string to use to disable and intire drive from scanning?
