How do I undelete documents that were cleaned up in my downloads folder on my MAC?

Hello Constance.
I am afraid this action cannot be undone. By default, downloads folder is not selected to be cleaned on your Mac.
But once you select it manually and clean the contents, it is irreversible. 
Appreciate your understanding.
