vpn won't activate. says I need to reinstall. How to do it?

If you have installed AVG Secure VPN try to uninstall it from the control panel and reinstall the application. Refer the article (http://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=Install-AVG-Secure-VPN) to reinstall AVG Secure VPN.
