Thank you, Alan. That helped - it has removed "most" of the AVG installation and I no longer get the message. AVG Zen is still installed and refuses removal, however. I don't now what it does, but will keep trying.
Do you know if the remaining portion of the installation will inhibit the installation of a different brand of protection software?
I have AVG 2015 installed on my older, XP based machine. Since it is my business platform, it's very important to me.
Recently AVG began issuing a warning that the AVG installation is broken and it needs to be reinstalled. When I attempt uninstall it, it reports that it can't disable the AVG Firewall, and that I need to verify that I have system permission. Since I am the sole user and set up as administrator, this is a problem.
I've done the right click and told it to temporarily shut down AVG, all to no avail. I've even tried going into REGEDIT to remove the AVG files, but that too, doesn't work.
I need to remove this disabled software ASAP, so I can get something working again. I called for support, but of course, the line is busied out.
Okay, after I left this last message, I went to the control panel and there is just shows the icon and "AVG" so I'm not sure it's the ZEN program at all. When I clicked on information button it says it is Version1.0.547.
When I go to the START button, it shows AVG ZEN, which calls "AVG". It also shows the AVG Tuneup 2015 Group of programs.
I have run the UNINSTALL utility numerous times, and rebooted 10 or so times, but they refuse to go away.
