Under Options / Advanced settings, expand Schedules (see screenshot). There are separate pages for definition updates and program updates. Uncheck "Enable this task." However, if you disable definition updates, AVG will give you an ugly "You are not fully protected" message on the main menu and a yellow triangle on the tray icon. Those warnings cannot be stopped even using the Ignore Error Status setting. If you are running a paid version of AVG, you might be able to schedule definition updates for a time that won't interfere with your gaming. The free version doesn't have that option.
For some insane reason, AVG Definitions Updates can not be turned off in Advanced Settings under Schedules! Why even list the option if it can not be turned off…? Very inconvienient for people who count on performance at a specific time or have limited data to work with. Most people run the update every day they turn on their computer. AVG tried to implement this two or three years ago and there was an uproar from users. Perhaps learning from the past is in order, …before people go somewhere else - again.

Guys plz tell me how to off updates completely ?? I dont want to update programe until I click on update. I play games and there comes lag. PLZ help me…
