I use AVG Free. I choose not to use the Identity Protection Service feature. When I disable the feature, AVG reports an error condition that it is disabled. It's not an error condition and you don't need to tell me about it - I am the person who chose to disable it. Happily there is an option to ignore the error status. However, when I enable that option I get an error message from time to time telling me that I am ignoring the error status. You don't need to tell me. I'm the person who chose to disable it, and who told you to ignore the error status, and to stop bitching about me ignoring the error status. Please just get rid of that whole warning mechanism and don't pester me ever again once I have turned the feature off.

To add injury to insult, the IDS feature spontaneously turns itself back on from time to time without informing me or asking my consent. I suppose it's triggered by an upgrade. Please stop doing that. If I've told you I do not want to use a feature then I'm not about to change my mind simply because the software version number changed.

So, rant over, my question is: How do I use AVG without using the IDS feature, without AVG bitching about it at regular intervals and without AVG overriding my wishes for no apparent reason?

Alan, thank you for your replies. I hadn't seen that other thread - I haven't found a good way to search the support forum here, and typing related keywords into the search function just turned up posts about how to re-enable IDS and repair AVG installations. As far as I can see, the other thread was primarily about the problem that deselecting the IDS feature didn't actually stop the associated from burning resources. I found the same issue, that the IDS service kept running, but I have resolved that by killing the process and shredding the remains. However, I'm still left with these annoying nags, and I expect that AVG will override my wishes and unilaterally re-enable the IDS feature before too long.

In the meantime I don't see any value in posting screenshots. The nagging messages are clearly deliberate, and the feature magically re-enabling itself doesn't need a screenshot to understand what's happened.
