Initially, please let us know from when you're experiencing this issue. Did you make any hardware/software changes on your computer?
For better clarity, please share us the screenshot of the message that you receive. 
Also, clarify whether you've tried updating the driver using AVG Driver Upater.

My Windows 10 computer says my Office-jet J4580 driver no longer works. I have the original disk have tried reloading but still not working.

No, I did not make any changes. I have the original disk and tried reinstalling it, but it did not change.

AVG Driver updater does not seem to recognize the printer.

The printer works as a copier just fine, but without the driver, it's useless.

Do not know how to attach a screenshot. I tried emailing as a return the email I received this morning, but it bounced back saying I needed to use the forum.

I just tried filtering the Driver Updater to "Printer".

See the screenshot showing the driver is updated, but the print screen still reflects no driver available.
