I have AVG Free. Recently I am repeatedly getting a "Restart Needed - Restart now to complete protection" cue. It happens daily. Normally I restart but often the cue happens at a very inconvenient time. Advice anyone on how to stop this annoyance?

I have the same problem as Martin and Ed. I was annoyed with the restart notification everytime I started my computer. So I uninstalled AVG. Now I get a driver failure when I try to reinstall. I've tried everything the AVG remover is worthless it fails to remove the problem.

I had the same problem. I uninstalled it, went through all the steps to clean out my system as described on this site, and now I'm unable to reinstall it. I'm about ready to swtich back over to Norton at this point.

Unfortunately, even thought I've really liked AVG Free and it came very highly recommended by a good friend who owns a .com company in CA/NV, and despite multiple attempts to completely delete and reinstall - none of which proved successful - I've had to go in a different direction for my antivirus/anti-malware support.  Still not sure all elements of AVG are totally uninstalled.  Probably I and my local IT expert buddy are going to wipe my laptop and start over…very disappointing not to mention time consuming.  I think I've probably read the article you're suggesting, but I WILL take a look to see if there are any solutions suggested that we have not already performed.  OKAY - Just checked the link you posted and I've both read it and executed it, the uninstall once and the reinstall multiple times.  Too bad because AVG served me well for over 4 years. So, thanks AVG for that.

I am sorry to hear that, you can use AVG Removall tool to uninstall AVG after that there shouldn't be much left overs.
