I need to open a specific port in AVG (8172)

Hi Tom.
We'd request you to add that particular application in AVG firewall's application rule.
Then edit the rule to click 'Specify port' against 'Allow outbound access to internet'.

I have looked online at all of the documentation that I can find and have attempted to change application rules, etc. But no change that I have made has stopped AVG from blocking port 8172. I would like to open this port to a program but can find no way to do this.

I know that the port is being blocked because when I turn off firewall protection, the program does not complain.
