I start a scan...several problems but the scan stops at 8 threats and will not scan further. I am having trouble accessing sites on the internet...what should I do?

Many of the web sites I try to visit will not connect. I use AVG scan to search for problems. It stops at 8 threats and will go no further. What to do?
