I tried to change my sim but when i turned on my phone, it says that it was stolen and i need to type the password. as far as i could remember i did not register to any avg security password. how would i unlock my phone?

You can unlock phone using web interface (https://www.avgmobilation.com/).
Please make sure your phone is connected to internet (wifi since new sim is not working).
