After installing AVG Ultimate I get message "Identity protection is disabled". I have tried the Repair function (and re-started the computer) but the problem persists.

I did try the suggested fix, but when I ran the downloaded file I got a message something like "Incompatible version of AVG". I then tried the other suggested fix by using the Start/Control Panel/Add or Remove Programs/AVG/Change/Repair and that ran through OK but did not fix the problem.
Thank you, Kishore. That worked OK although there were a few problems along the way.
The removal tool hung at one stage (it did nothing for half an hour) so I ended it with task manager, then reran it and it completed properly the second time.
The reinstall gave an error oxe001f632 at step 4 with an option to re-try, and the re-try worked. After step 4 was completed I could not follow the sequence in the article because the only option available was to log in, but in the end it all worked.
