If I renew early to get the discount will it charge me at the end of my current subscription or do I forgoe the last month I already paid for?

The “Contact Support” option is an endless loop where you never actually get in contact with anyone. I now have 8 open windows tyring to speak to someone. It is ridiculous. Anyway, I see a pop-up that offers a discount to renew early. If I do this am I being charged immediately or when my current subscription runs out? If I do get charged now, does this mean I forgoe the rest of my current subcription and have a new renewal date?
