Images Not Loading on Facebook

hello. for the past four days i have been having problems with facebook. first, it took me a dozen tries to finally connect to their website after getting numerous security related warnings such as their certificate couldn't be verified or that the connection was insecure. then when i finally logged on, the photos/images all over the site, including my own page wouldn't show up at all. i would see what appeared to be broken images of varying colors, sometimes with text stating ''may be a photo of 1 person standing'', etc. i tried changing my security settings in various browsers [firefox, google, etc] but to no avail. does anyone know what is causing this? other websites load just fine. my email works too. i would appreciate any help or advice you may give. thank you so  much.

If you suspect that your AVG Internet Security is causing this, let us temporarily disable the individual shields of your AVG Internet Security & check if any of the individual shields is causing this issue.

yes try disabling avg, or 
AVG clear (https://www.avg.com/en-us/download-thank-you.php?product=REM)
