i have just written a lengthy reply and it disappeared!!!
the softaware is avg internet security 2015.
the history shows the last completed scan 08/08/15 - despite 2 further attempted scans which ran for more than 12 hrs each and did not finish - no message or anything to explain.
can't do a screenshot - don't know how but wouldn't be much use as all it shows is the protection indicators page which are all green/positive.
have not tried repair/reinstall as not sure how to.

have done 2 full scans recently which do not seem to have finished. they both ran for at least 12hours before i left them to complete overnight. in the morning nothing was showing and when i checked the scan history there was no record of a scan since 08/08/15. the protection indicators are all positive so that seems ok but why is it scans are not completing?
do you mean windows 10?

In my case, the history was not written because an error caused the computer to reboot.
Updating the virus definitions fixed it.
