Most likely there is a problem with your Windows XP version of the Realtek Gigabit Ethernet

You can update or reinstall. manufacturer's website

Or if you use a router. try directly with the cable operator to connect the computer and see if you can access the Internet.

When upgrading from AVG2014 to AVG2015 Internet security The LAN and WAN drivers fail.  This leaves me without internet acces to complete installing updates.  LAN  Realtek  (RTL8168/8111 PCI-E)  Windows XP Pro SP3.  Only way to get back in operating condition was to Restore previous checkpoint with AVG2014 internet security.
