Hello,
AVG PC TuneUp is just performing the maintenance and deleting for example obsolete links and registry remnants saved by uninstalled programs and such. Infection is program that is active in the PC and its files are not considered as obsolete or unused therefore it should not be deleted by AVG PC TuneUp. It is not anti-malware and is not able to detect infections. That is why you should have anti-malware installed such as AVG Anti-virus.
I have just purchased AVG 2015 and PC tune up and am very happy with what it has done so far,
However, when I run '1-click maintainence' it works and produces results and corrects errors; BUT, when I follow it up with a Virus scan it produced 57 items (all J/S agents).
My question therefore is, why does it not pick this up as part of routine maintainence as surely a virus check would be an essential task within maintainence if you are querying your computers functions.
I only happened to do this Virus check because a 'pop-up' came onto the screen and I suspected it may be more than just spam.
I am well aware that the 'J/S agent ' is malware but can you explain this anomaly please as to why one program did not detect it and the dedicated virus checker which I used as a hunch did?
Also, I ran the '1-click' program again after the virus checker had done its work and successfully isolated the problem, however the '1-click' program listed further errors within windows which it had previously reported as correcting. I am running Windows 7 Home basic.
As you can gather I am very happy with AVG products, just a little confused as to how they interact when one of thje programs I have just run is reported as not having run for 3 days in PC tune up.
I would be interested in your comments.
Regards
A.Fitch.
