Usually, AVG program provides pop up offers for other AVG programs, in order to personalize/improvise the existing app.
An user can either proceed to purchase through the prompt or ignore, depending on their preferences.
However, the app allows us to disable those campaign notifications by following these steps : Open AVG Internet Security - Menu - Settings - General - Personal privacy - uncheck options below 'Offers'
The smart scan results regarding performance/privacy issues can be ignored by clicking on 'Skip for now' option in the scan result.

I understand that AVG needs to promote its paid products to sustain its business, however, the notifications at the end of a smart scan seem impractical. The notifications vary from week to week, sometimes suggesting private browsing and at other times advising that my documents (.doc) are not encrypted beyond the defaults, which is not a concern for me as anyone who has already gained access to my computer would have already seen the documents.
The most frustrating aspect, however, is the warning about programs slowing down my system. To clarify, none of these programs run automatically and I frequently check my services and start-ups. Moreover, these programs are essential to my work, such as my browser, PDF reader, Photoshop, and Office. These programs are essential tools for getting work done and I can't imagine using a laptop for anything other than work-related tasks.
