Hello Calum,
We regret for any inconvenience caused to you. We request you to try and run repair installation ( avgclick.me/RepairAVG ) of your AVG free to fix the inactive components and that should resolve your issue.
Please, feel free to let us know if you require any further assistance. Thank you.
How do I fix the following issue?
My laptop freezes briefly (5 seconds or so) then the screen goes black indefinetly, roughly 5 or 10 minutes after logging in, which also takes much longer than previously. I searched various PC forums looking for an easy fix but I didn't originally know what initiated the failure. Eventually I realised that just before the first freeze AVG Antivirus Free had updated ( at 9pm 4/9/16), and I'm assuming that this is not a coincidence.
When I briefly managed to open the AVG Protection app it said "You are not fully protected!" with a fix now button all in red. However when I press fix now it says "Could not finish automatic state repair". The Computer and Identity tabs both had red exclamation marks as well.
My laptop is a fairly old Compaq Presario CQ56, running windows 10 and I haven't downloaded or changed anything recently that could cause a problem. I've used AVG Free since I've had my laptop and never really had any issues with it so far. If this isn't the right place to post this please let me know where I can get help. Thanks.
