Latest AVG free antivirus causing my computer to crash/freeze

I've also had this problem. I tried the fix suggested, but it didn't work. Instead I've just uninstalled AVG and the problem was solved - things back to normal.

But I'll keep an eye on the issue and reinstall AVG when/if they get a fix for this.

For almost 2 weeks my system has been having severe issues
1. 2-6 attempots to boot
2. BLue Screen events
3. System Lock-up
4. System Freezing
5. USB crashes

I have re-installed my entire system, flashed the BIOS, re-installed all drivers, and endlessy searched for help on the net to no avail.  Today I unistalled my entire AVG Ultimate Suite, AVG VPN, AVG Anti-Track, AVG Tune-up and AVG Driver Updater and every single issue was immediastely repaired.  As this is a critical business computer, Alienware 17R4, no less, it is absolutely onconscionable that the AVG Suite has caused this much trouble around the World after being one of the finest Softwares in the World for so many years.  The suggested update caused even more trouble and did not work at all.  I will try one last time to install my AVG Suite of Softwares and see what happens.

Hello Yvonne,
I regret for the inconvenience caused. Please repair AVG Free Antivirus as mentioned in this article ( http://avgread.me/1BVxDSY ) and then open AVG->Antivirus->Menu->Settings->Troubleshooting->Uncheck "Enable AVG Self Protection Mode" to resolve the issue.
Thank you.

Hi there,
Please offer some help, I don't know if this has affected other people as well, but I have been using the AVG free antivirus software for a very long time for years on all my computers, I've had no problems at all until recently with one of my computers (running windows vista) ..with the latest update (I think it's the recent one that came out last week end of June 2017 and current version is 17.5.3021 I think) which I received a notification about an update so I updated and installed it over the weekend from 2nd July 2017 and all of a sudden my computer has started perform slow and also causes it to freeze and crash all the time and when crashes I have to forcefully press the power button to shut down and reboot... and sometimes it causes the blue screen when it crashes. I have used system restore and also uninstalled it and reinstalled it through following methods I have seen advised, such as with the methods of AVG removal/clear tool etc and then reinstalling and installing again, but doesn't seem to solve the issue and persists. It also sometimes causes the internet to loose connection, as well as sometimes some websites takes forever to open when it didn't before and also such as https:// websites doesn't load or takes forever to open, or watching YouTube or Facebook etc applies too, however once disabling it on the online shield in settings, unticking the https:// category, everything seems to work and loads fine, however this is a flaw because https:// still needs to be scanned to be secure. The latest update of Avg seems to be causing all these problems and I need to use the computer to work etc. Seems to be destroying my computer. Please can someone help me or is there a new update to fix this.
Thanks, Yvonne.

Hi James,

We are sorry to hear.

Please accept our apologies.

We will help you to resolve the issue.

Are you facing this issue after the recent AVG Update?

Please install the AVG products again and turn off the protection.

Then check for the issue again.

If you get any error message, please send us the screenshot of the message.

Let us know, the status of the issue.

Yvonne,
AVG Self protection feature helps preventing all critical AVG Antivirus files from being modified or deleted. We suggested to disable this feature to confirm if there is a possible conflict. We would request you to provide us with logs to analyze this issue and provide you with a resolution. I have sent you an email with steps on how to collect the necessary logs and upload them to us. Please check your inbox and spam/junk folder as well.

Hi,
Thanks for responding to my post and offering help. I have tried the repair option before but it didn't help or work or fix anything but I will try that repair option again to see it works and fixes the problems again. May I ask because you stated to uncheck the 'enable avg self protection mode' to resolve the issue, by doing this what does it mean or what will it do as I want to make sure I understand and know what I am doing?
Thanks.
