Latest avg free update broke outlook express

I started fearing that I would not get an answer till Monday, so I went to the Control Panel (btw the computer in question is XP), clicked on "add / remove programs", and under AVG I found that I could click on a "repair" option. That took a while, but finally it finished and I restarted. The problem seems to have been fixed, according to my one definite test.

I could consistently reproduce the problem by clicking on "sent items" (in Outlook Express), selecting a sent email, and saving it as a .txt file (a feature which I'm not sure exists in any other email software). Then I simply clicked on "inbox", and OE stopped responding.

As I said, AVG passes this test now, after the "repair", but can we hold this open for a few days to see if I have any other problem?

Hello Bob,

We will check with it. Let us know if your Outlook works fine when AVG free is disabled temporarily.

Right click on AVG icon under system tray next to clock, click on toggle bar to turn on/ off AVG protection.

Since the latest avg free update, in effect since computer restarted 9/1/18 @ 6:15 a.m., outlook express regularly stops responding and my computer has to be restarted. I have been using outlook express with avg free since approx. 2003.

Sure, Bob.

We apprciate your efforts.

Yes, you can check its status and reach us at your convenient time. We work round the clock.
