To stop AVG limiting NNTP connections:

Open Settings - General - Troubleshooting - Open old settings
Components - mailshield - uncheck (NNTP)

In the latest version of AVG AntiVirus, you must access the Geek:Area, https://is.gd/CLGLPp, to access your NNTP settings. Alternatively, you may disable the email shield or uninstall it.

I have updated to the latest build 20.4.3125 (build 20.4.5312.578) and their is no longer a option to  stop AVG limiting NNTP connections.

on the older version it was - Components > Email Shield > [  ] Scan newsgroup messages [NNTP]

any way to fix this ?

It would be usefull if i had the option to - Open old Settings - in this version of avg there is NO option for that…
