Latest version of AVG FREE not working well

We regret to hear about the inconvenience caused. Due to the arrival of new threats and infections, we have updated our AVG security program with high new security patches and updates to enhance the computer security.

The older version virus definitions were not up to date and you wont be able to have the complete protection without new updates. The new updates will be available only for AVG 2017 versions.

Since installing the latest new version of AVG FREE which I had to do as when it was automatically upgraded it was very slow to open . I am not happy as had no problems before with it. It is still slow to open and I get a white window for a sec or 2 before I see the graphics- quicker than with previous one. but not getting my scheduled scans which I have set to run at a specific time and day to run automatically. I have to run it manually myself. What is the problem ? Why is an anti virus that I have used for many years so terrible to use now ? I am thinking of downloading another one that will work properly.
