Hello Jonathan,
We will certainly take a look into this for you.
As deep scan performs an in-depth scan of your system that checks your storage drives and memory for malware, it will take some time than usual.
Would you be so kind and let us know whether the scan struck at 37% or it is in progress with 37%?
Keep us posted on the progress.
I have AVG Internet Security and I'm running the Deep Scan option for viruses & other malware. Exactly how long should this take? I've been running it for 4 hours and it's only on 37%.
Thank you for keeping us posted, Jonathan.
It could take some time to complete the deep scan if your disk space is more. It is purely depends on the drives/files within your device. We appreciate your patience in this case.
Last update it finally finished, I ran it over night so I don't know exactly what time it finished. But it did work and it found 3 items, it quarantined 2 and deleted 1. The only thing I don't understand is if AVG found a malicious piece of software, why quarantined it rather than delete?
Thank you for the update.
Some of the files that was detected by AVG, might be a trusted file too.
In that case, AVG will categorize and move the detection to quarantine from where user can verify it and restore the file if they are trusted.
Once they are restored, user can add it to whitelist and submit the sample for analysis.
It also depends on the scan settings that you have set.

Update, a few hours have past since I posted my question and it's now at 53%.
