Same issue as Brian. Agree it's not as user friendly in the newer version of AVG Internet Security. The right-click button to lock DataSafe was very fast and convenient.
That said - whatever is most secure is best.

Had exactly the same problem as Brian, the reboot worked, so all fine now. Perhaps an email from AVG to warn of this problem after the upgrade would have alleviated my intial panic!
The reboot worked for me also.
I did notice that the "Close Data Safe" in no longer in my right click menu. I have to open AVG, click through to the Data Safe Menu to close the Data Safe. Is there a way to get that item back on the right click menu?
8/24/17 Back on August 8, I received an email indicating my AVG IS had been upgraded to "our newest, most advanced version of AVG Internet Security ever". Actually there was no upgrade on any of the three computers at that time.
Today two of the three computers were updated this morning with no warning. Each had an AVG DataSafe that is now LOST.
I have screenshots from one of the updated computers as I tried to access the DataSafe, but I don't seem to be able to post them.
The AVG DataSafe loss is a warning. Fortunately I have a backup of the contents. Others may not.
Can I expect my third computer to be updated? The other two seemed to be back to back updates.

Brian, I understand the difficulties in closing Data Safe. Please be informed that this is the standard way and recommended to use this otpion to close Data Safe in the new version.
08/24/2017 My third computer was updated this afternoon. Lost the AVG DataSafe on this one also.
OK. Not as user friendly though.
