Hi - new here. Just installed AVG 2015 on my old XP the other day. Every reboot I got a machineidcreator error message. Driving me nuts. I looked at the AVG boards from 2012/13, and all the first 20 (free) google suggestions that came up and dived recklessly into regedit and at anything C:\ I could find. Deleted anything vaguely AVG. Useless. But there was one tip I came across: Glary Utilities 5. Didn't do a thing to solve the problem when I ran it. But I persevered and went into Advanced Tools and wiped out anything in the subsections (like Startup Items) that suggested AVG. And it seems - touch wood - to have worked. As, still, does AVG. And since machineidcreator is one of the most irritating brats i've ever come across, i decided to share the possible solution.
