You're correct, if you have AVG Free Antivirus/AVG Internet Security installed on your computer and it is active then your computer will be protected from all types of malware.
However, what you’re describing is most likely just a generic Tech Support Scam page. Could you share a screenshot/picture of the threat pop ups to assist you further?

Notice flashes on screen about every other day: something like your computer is infected with a poronographic malware. Do not set this window down or your computer will crash permanently or something like that. Call ??phone number for help. THe computer is locked. My only option when this happens is to turn computer off and restart it. I have free AVG and their paid for driver scanner/finder. I thought malware was covered under free. Am I wrong?
