Hello Deane,
Please check for weird and unknown extensions and add-ons installed on Firefox browser.
If you find any, please remove it and check the status.
If the issue persist, you can try resetting the browser which should help in fixing the issue.
Anyone know how to remove this hijack from Firefox?
I've had that fortunately a quick scan automatically initiated by avg got rid of it…

This problem is NOT resolved in that way. There are NO weird or unknown extensions or add-ons in my Firefox. I had AVG do a scan of my browser and to my surprise it reported nothing was amiss! I am shocked that AVG did not find this nasty, secretive program. It was apparently installed under the guise that it was a new version of Flash that I was ASKED to install by a website known as peggio.tv. This website formerly downloaded audio or video from YouTube and converts it into a file.
But it no longer works, just fools you into loading hijacking software. I suggest AVG place this site on their DANGER list.
After trying several other methods, found on Google, I finally got rid of it by initiating a Firefox "refresh" action. However this caused more problems in that I no longer have tabbed browsing! I am now trying to bring that back somehow…
