Hello Harry,
Thank you for contacting AVG Community Support.
We are sorry to know that you are unable to use microphone in particular application like Skype when VPN enabled. We'll certainly check and help you out.
Could you please provide me with more details about the situation, and I will do my best to help you resolve it efficiently.
Are you facing this issue in mobile or PC?
May I know the device OS name and version?
Can you use the microphone when VPN disabled?
Are you facing issue with Skype application only or other application too?
Looking forward to your response and the opportunity to assist you further.
Thank you and keep us updated.
It’s interesting that your microphone works with your talk-to-type program but not Skype, even when the VPN is off. This suggests the issue might not be directly tied to your VPN but instead linked to how Skype handles microphone input.
Here’s what I’d recommend:
Check Skype’s Permissions: Ensure Skype has permission to access your microphone in Windows settings. Go to Settings > Privacy > Microphone and verify Skype is enabled.
Audio Settings in Skype: In Skype, navigate to Settings > Audio & Video and check if the correct microphone is selected.
VPN Configuration: Some VPNs reroute all traffic, potentially disrupting certain apps. If you’re using apps like nawatsapp alongside Skype, try testing without the VPN to see if there’s any improvement.
Driver Update: Ensure your audio drivers are up to date. Outdated drivers often cause compatibility issues with communication apps.
If none of these steps work, reaching out to Skype support directly might help. Let me know how it goes—I’d be happy to troubleshoot further!
Ever since I installed my VPN, my microphone is not working on Skype. It is working internally for my talk to type program but i cannot get the microphone to work with skype. The problem with Skype coincides with my installation of the VPN.
I don't know if my microphone works on other applications where I have to go online do correspond with someone. It works in my talk to type program when I'm online within other programs. I am on a PC with Windows 10. It makes no difference whether the VPN is turned on or off. If there's anything else I can offer to try to help you resolve the situation please let me know.
Thank you, Harry
