Migration to new Mac

Hi Tom,

We'll certainly check & help you resolve this.
Initially, please let us know if you followed the below steps to remove any/all traces of AVG from your Mac:

  1. Open Finder
  2. In menu bar select GO > GO TO FOLDER
  3. Type: /Library/Application Support/
  4. Locate and delete AVG Antivirus folder manually
  5. Restart your mac

If you've already tried the above steps & the issue persists, please let us know what exactly happens when you try to access the already installed AVG Antivirus program in your Mac.
If you received any message/pop-up, please share us it's screenshot, so that we can check & assist you further.
You can post the screenshot here in your topic. Click on Answer & then click on the Image [mountain symbol] & follow the instructions.

I got a new Macbook Air and used Migration Assistant to migrate from the old to the new.  AVG migrated but won't start up on the new mac.   I can't uninstall it because every uninstall process says to start AVG.  It doesn't start so I can't go any further.    I tried deleteing the app in finder as recommended in another thread but that didn't work (as I thought).   Is there a MAC uninstall utility?   I'd like to download and install the current version but trying to install the new version give the message that AVG is already installed, please uninstall first…    Who's on first?

Thanks for the quick response.   I downloaded Clean My Mac from macpaw and it removed AVG.   Once removed, I was able to reinstall the new version.    I did not delete the directory as stated above since I had already used Clean My Mac and that resolved the issue.

Thank you for updating the status, Tom.

Glad to hear that you were able to resolve the issue.
Feel free to contact us if you need any assistance with AVG.
Have a great day!
