I now have a red letter AVG panel that says no active components. This is the result of going to control panel and selecting the option of repairing the program. I have a scheduled scan every day at 2:oo am. I was playing a game at the time.I logged off the game and did not check to see if the AVG scan had started. I looked later today and it was sitting at 1% and not moving.
I am rather new at Windows10. Tried to follow several books concerning the Windows10 program.to no avail I know just enough to make me a danger to myself using the program.
Any help would be appreciated.

Sorry to hear that your AVG anti virus scan has stopped. Please check for any latest Windows updates are available and install them. If they are up to date, please try to repair or reinstall the Visual C++ Redistributables (both x86 & x64) package from the website: http://www.microsoft.com/en-au/download/details.aspx?id=30679 .
