I think this is the nastiest joke an antivirus company could do. I have been trying to get rid of it all day, every time I open the GUI, and the first time I almost had a heart attack as I thought I had ransomware. Something like this really isn’t funny, and yes I have a wonderful (British) sense of humour. I hope the internet en masse, and respected publications, admonish this behaviour and teach Avast/AVG a lesson so they don’t do this again.
PS if you click report a problem, it finally goes away. Imagine trying to use the app all day for my initial settings, as I am a new customer, and this was happening non stop.
I really am thinking of a refund now and going back to Kaspersky. I just don’t feel as safe like I did with that.

I have this too - I can’t access Citrix for work with my VPN on so I have to switch that off but now I have a message saying I’m not protected even though I have all the options and I still can’t get on to Citrix for work! The Matrix April Fool thing is scary - is it??

Thats wild if its April fools. AVG is not a respected enough company to take any pranks like this lightly, maybe if they had good customer service and actually cared about their customers it would be taken in jest. But they’re awful so they can f off with that nonsense

i just found out, they make u pay for customer service

Thats ridiculous if that’s the case. I got a hold of them on Facebook messenger and they gave me my refund for free. Contact them there or on X is your best bet
