Further to my last response (pending review) I cannot access any avg files to change them to Old as suggested. The rescue CD does not appear to have worked. I also tried USB, but got no response. Not eventhe avg rescue CD menu appeared
I did try to reinstall Windows but this also failed. I am annoyed and frustrated as AVG has now cost me £45 in computer repairs. So much for AVGFree.
My computer will not boot up. It will not boot up in safe mode either and gets stuck at DRIVER\avgshx.sys. I notice there is a rescue package which I can download to a USB stick using a working computer, but will I be able to open thison my computer when I cannot boot it up even in safe mode. I cannot see how that will work.

Hi Aravindh, from memory I recently updated the AVG free anti virus, which has been running successfully for a few weeks. In return from a 1 week holiday the fault occurred in that my PC would not boot up as described

As I was trying to repair WindowsXP from the original XP CD, it can up witha message that it was unable to copy across one of the files. Unfortunately I cannot remember which file. I tried several times, but each time it failed within 5 mins of trying to repair Windows XP. My PC is still being repaired byan expert and a present the bill is for £48. I only have a photo of the AVG driver error which I think you already have, but I will try to reattach it. No the image is too large, sorry

I have run the rescue CD and could not access the AVG rescue CD menu, so it automatically booted. My PC is now stuck on a page of information that ends 33.164002----end if Kernel panic-not syncing: fatal exception in interrupt. What do I do now?
