I can understand your concern. You can ignore the printer application from sleep mode in AVG PC Tuneup by following the below steps:
* Open AVG PC TuneUp
* Click on "Speed Up and select "Optimize Startup and Shutdown"
* Scroll down the new window and you can see the list of applications put to sleep. Please click on the same and ignore the printer application.

I recently purchased AVG Complete and one of the first tasks it asked me to do was to choose which programs to put to sleep so that they did not run in the background all the time and impair my computer's performance. So I put 6 'to sleep' and 6 I retained in the background. One of the things I put 'to sleep' was my printer, thinking that if I don't use it all the time it wouldn't hurt to put it 'to sleep' So, when I went to use it the next time I found that all it would now do was put the items I wanted to print in a queue but no longer download the data to the printer and print them!
I have tried reconnecting the computer to the printer's wifi, uninstalling AVG Complete, and looking for the tab to open to undo the sleep command. All to no avail!
So please tell me what I AM supposed to do to restore the functionality of my printer!?! There is a vitally important document I need to print today!
