My website is being blocked and classified as URL:Mal

Hello, I have the same exact issue. Thanks for updating on the solution.

Hi Alan,

No I haven't. My website is still being flagged as URL:Mal.

Michele, please make sure that your Chrome web browser is up to date or not. Then try to clear browser cookies & cache, check if the website loads fine.

If the issue persists, please let us know which AVG program are you using and provide a screenshot of the threat detection pop up with clicking on 'See details'. Click on 'Answer' & then click on the 'Image' [mountain symbol] & follow the instructions.

Hello,
We are having the same problem with an our site that we use to provide a service to our customers.
The site is blocked by AVG with the  same message URL:MAL.
It happens with Chrome, IE and Edge and it is caused by Web and Mail protection. Using Firefox it always works.
We use AVG Business Security and deactivating the Web and Mail protection, the site works well also in the other browser.
When the Web and Mail protection is activated it blocks an XMLHttpRequest that was done in the same domain. It wasn't a cross domain request.

Hi Alok,

Are you saying that I am waiting for another e-mail from AVG? Because the most recent e-mail I received from AVG was not helpful. It was just a link to a web page with information on a long list of things that can cause websites to be flagged in this manner. I still don't know specifically what the problem is, and without that information, I won't be able to fix the problem. It would be great if someone could respond to my issue specifically with direct information on steps I should take to get my site removed from your flagged list.

Hello,

I'm having the same issue with our new business site; but the URL:MAL only comes up when using Chrome. Firefox is fine. Our URL is http://hrinstallationservices.com/

Can someone from AVG please advise/assist?

Thank you,
Michele

Hello Kasia,
I'm sorry for delay in responding to you. I can see that your previous case is in under level 2 technician, they will also send you an email. I request you to reply to that email conversation for the best and quick solution.
Best regards,
Alok.

Kasia,
Thank you for being patient.
Our Senior Team has confirmed that the issue has been fixed from our end.

I am posting here with the hope that someone at AVG is willing to take the time to help me. I am a web developer and I have a website for my business with information about my services, my portfolio, etc. About a week or 10 days ago now, I noticed that I was unable to access my own website. When I tried to visit, I received a notice from AVG saying access was blocked due to URL:Mal detection.

2 months ago, in September, my website was hacked and the hackers placed malicious scripts on it that were designed to hijack my server and use it to send spam e-mail. It took a little while, but after some persistence and a lot of hard work, I was able to identify all of the malicious files and remove them from my system. Since then, I have had no further problems with malicious scripts or security problems. My website has been clean and running smoothly for the last 2 months.

I am assuming that this hack and the fallout from it are what caused my website to get flagged as a security risk by some security software packages, including AVG, as I have never before had any problems with my website being flagged like this. I also had an issue being flagged by McAfee. Earlier this week, I went through the review process with McAfee to get my site removed from their list of high-risk sites so that their software would not block access to my site. My site passed their review process on the first attempt and was removed from their list of malicious sites, and is now considered safe.

I also followed the instructions provided to previous users who have been flagged by AVG by going to False Positive File Form and submitting my website for review. I did this twice. The first time, I received a response from AVG that appeared to be a form letter telling me that AVG's technicians confirmed a problem with my site. However, no further details were provided so it is impossible for me to know exactly why AVG thinks my site is still a problem.

The second time I submitted my site for review to AVG, just a couple of days ago, I did so after I had already passed McAfee's review. Repeated ClamAV scans on my server and scans by other online tools to detect viruses or malware are also all clean. Currently, it appears that AVG is the only security tool I am aware of that seems to think my site is a problem. The second response I received from AVG was simply an apology for my inconvenience and a link to a web page with information on a list of things that can cause websites to get flagged as problematic. Again, no actual details about why AVG still considers my site a problem or specifically what is wrong with my site were provided.

I am becoming frustrated with this process. This is going to have a negative impact on my business if I cannot get the situation resolved, and thus far I have received no real help from the folks at AVG. Is there anyone who is willing to assist me in resolving this issue?

You are most welcome Eduardo.
Have a nice day!

This is the response I just received from AVG:

This doesn't really sound like "complete details on how to proceed further". They are just passing the buck back to me by linking again to the same website with a long list of things that can cause websites to be flagged. Still no details on specifically what is wrong with my site.
