Suddenly, from yesterday, both my websites at www.knighton-group.co.uk & www.thebebopshop.com are being flagged by my AVG antivirus as being infected by SNH-gen[Trj] and the connection to them blocked. The message points to the issue with simple little files like image gifs. This happens on all browsers. I don't think there is a problem with my sites and I do not experience this on my mobile which also has AVG antivirus on it. I can visit my websites on that no problem. I notice there was an AVG definition update in the last day or so so maybe that is causing the problem. I am using Windows 10 with various browsers like firefox, chrome and edge and never had this problem before. I am very concerned about this so I would be grateful for some advice.
Darren, we understand your concern.
As mentioned before, you can add your websites to AVG's exclusion as mentioned in this article https://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?l=en&urlName=AVG-Antivirus-scan-exclusions&supportType=home
Our concerned team is investigating the issue. They will get back to you shortly.
Your patience is appreciated.
I have the same problem - an ultra simple html file generates the alert. No problem from a PC using Sophos anti-virus. Who is your hosting provider - mine is 123-reg - just in case there's a common link.
Sorry, your false positive form doesn't work. I've tried a couple of times and it fails saying try again later or just access denied. I was going to send you a screenshot of the alerts I'm getting or maybe the index.html page from one of my sites but it won't let me. I've noticed another user has experienced the same SNH-gen virus issue with their company website today so I'm guessing this is a false positive and is happening to others since your latest definition update. Please can you advise and fix this?
I feel the same Peter. Like yourself, I have worked hard at my business and have built up an award-winning reputation only for AVG to come along and trash it. This could cost us dearly if people are scared off our sites so I am very unhappy about this. I want this fixing as soon as possible. I too am using 123-reg for hosting. Maybe we should alert them to this issue also.

I am using free version. I am getting the alerts on all major browsers (Chrome, Edge, Firefox).
Okay. You can add your websites to AVG's exclusion as mentioned in this article.
On your behalf, we have submitted the false detection request to our team.
Please keep checking your emails regularly to know about its status.
It's not just that file which I placed there to illustrate the problem with no fancy code involved.
I know I can set up an exception for myself but if other people are getting the same problem it's damaging the reputation of my website!
Hi Darren,

Are you using AVG Antivirus free or paid AVG Internet Security program?
Are you getting the threat detection only when the websites are accessed via Firefox browser?
