I'm having a hard time with a diagnostic program I'm trying to run on my computer, and the manufacturer (Dell) suggested temporarily disabling my virus protection. However, the "how to" instructions on the AVG support page look nothing like the menu I'm getting. For example, when I right click on the AVG icon, all I get is a little box that gives me two options: (i) open or (ii) scan computer. When I click the "open" button to get to the main page, I go to "menu" then "Settings" but there is no "options", much less "advanced options". Can you help? There should be some way to turn off all of AVG without resorting to a complete uninstall.
