I have some netwrok drives on my home network. When I enable the VPN software these drives are not visible from the Win 10 PC running the VPN software. When I switch the VPN software off, the drives reappear. The PC is also running AVG Ultimate. Does something in this need configuring? Thank you.
Hello Richard.
We're glad to clarify this. The moment you connect to VPN all your traffic will go through encrypted VPN tunnel.
VPN will assign new private IP address which is used for communication on the local network and public IP which is use throughout the Internet.
Now, as there is new private IP address which is on different network than your local subnet, your device will not be able to communicate with other local devices.
This is why you are not able to access your local network drives or printer and it is absolutely normal for VPN service and its a part of its security features.
