New zen makes laptop super slow

hi,
Since AVG updated to Zen without me doing anything, my laptop became really slow. I'm talking 15 seconds after clicking an icon before anything would commence. Time after time it would try open a page and show "not responding".
I uninstalled AVG and used my lapstop again… instant response to everything. Downloaded AVG again…( couldnt get rid of Zen), and now the laptop is super slow again…

Any ideas please?
