Hi Alan thanks for your advice. Before going through the re-install route I tried upgrading to AVG Antivirus version 2015 and this has solved my problem and I am now fully protected again. Thanks again.

My AVG Antivirus 2014 will not run any scans because there are no active components. I have tried to run a repair but it failed. Any suggestions?
